Chicago Reclaiming, Inc. is an Illinois non-profit corporation formed in 2004 by a group of Reclaiming witches who wanted to build a sustainable Reclaiming community in the Chicago area. Chicago Reclaiming holds classes, events, workshops, gatherings, and meetings of all kinds open to the general public. All of our events are designed to welcome, and we strive for positive impact and safety.

Believe it or not, it all started with a Tarot class, taught by River and attended by a group of folks who would, inspired by a post to the "chireclaim" mailing list months later, join efforts to create "Awakening Brigid's Flame," the first Chicago Reclaiming public ritual and event. On the heels of that success, the event planners formed the Core of Chicago Reclaiming, and started putting together the bones of a structure to sustain the work they wanted to see happen in Chicago.

The Core created various autonomous Cells to handle Classes, Events, PR, Finances, and all the other functions they felt necessary to build a thriving spiritual community. These cells, composed of Core members and additional community members from outside the Core, soon undertook the day-to-day work of moving things forward, supporting a packed calendar of gatherings, rituals, and classes.

But, since She changes everything She touches, She certainly couldn't let things stay this way - community grew, the mailing list expanded, conversations happened, and the seeds of change were planted. In 2005, the Core officially dissolved, and was replaced by the Inter Cell Council and the structure currently in place.

As with Reclaiming communities worldwide, Chicago Reclaiming is continually reborn with new people, new ideas, and new challenges. As those who've been working on this dream for years step back to recharge, fresh faces with hands itching to do this work step up and get said hands dirty. Chicago Reclaiming is as vital and powerful as ever!
